In a remarkable surge, China’s foreign trade has exhibited robust growth over the initial eight months of this year. The total value of imports and exports of goods reached an impressive 34.78 trillion yuan, which is approximately $5.18 trillion. This represents a significant 17.6% increase compared to the same period last year.
Breaking down these figures, exports saw a notable rise of 14.6%, amounting to 20.17 trillion yuan. Meanwhile, imports showcased an even stronger performance, increasing by 22% to reach 14.61 trillion yuan. This trend highlights a period of vigorous economic activity and a noteworthy demand for foreign goods in China.
Focusing on the month of August, the growth trajectory continued to accelerate. Within this month alone, the total value of goods imported and exported climbed by 19.8% year-on-year, reaching 4.65 trillion yuan. Specifically, exports increased by 18.6%, while imports grew by a slightly higher margin of 21.7%.
These figures represent a consistent pattern, as both exports and imports have been experiencing double-digit growth rates year-on-year for four consecutive months. Notably, the growth in imports has outpaced that of exports for the past six months, suggesting a strong domestic demand for international products.
