In a bid to enhance the public’s comprehension of scientific advancements and foster science literacy, China is set to inaugurate its National Science Popularization Month. This initiative, spanning an entire month, will spotlight the theme “Science Transforms Lives, Innovation Secures the Future.” It aims to engage the public through a variety of exhibitions, lectures, science tours, and interactive activities.
The heart of the programme will be in Beijing, where over 100 exhibitions and events are scheduled at prominent venues. Meanwhile, national scientific societies across the country are organizing more than 150 activities. The focus will be on demystifying basic research and making the latest scientific developments more approachable for the general public.
As part of the initiative, attendees will have the chance to explore laboratories and research facilities, offering a closer look at cutting-edge scientific progress. This hands-on experience aims to bridge the gap between the scientific community and the public, providing insight into the innovation that shapes our future.
A highlight of the month will be the 2026 World Conference on Science Literacy, set to take place in mid-September in Beijing. This conference will bring together representatives from various countries to engage in discussions on science literacy and international cooperation, emphasizing the global importance of scientific understanding.
